Lead Electro-Mechanical Assembler
Summary/Objective
The Lead Electro-Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the assembly and testing of high precision products of varying complexity, under minimal supervision. This person will also be responsible for the quality and quantity of work performed. This person will be responsible for managing the resources required to maintain the manufacturing environment and ensure timely completion of high-quality products that conform to all documented requirements.
Essential Functions

- Assemble various subassemblies, standards, and special products according to regulatory, organizational, and procedural requirements.
- Accurate fitting, aligning, and adjusting required to very close tolerances or precision fits subject to strict inspection.
- Ability to cut, strip, solder, crimp and terminate small gauge wire according to specifications using hand and power tools.
- Set up and test complete products to determine compliance with exacting operating requirements using automated and manual testing methods.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean manufacturing environment.
- Manage and assign responsibilities to assemblers in the group.
- Manage production inventory, assembly test equipment, and personnel requirements as necessary to maintain production schedules and ensure product quality.
- Instruct others in assembly and test methods. Assist in the creation of manufacturing procedures to ensure clarity and product quality.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is a supervisory role, overseeing the work of Electro-Mechanical Assemblers in a dedicated assembly area.
Work Environment
This job operates in a dedicated laboratory in a professional manufacturing environment. Employees in this role routinely use electrical test equipment, standard hand tools, and microscopes, as well as some office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully, some of which may be done with accommodations.
While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly required to communicate both verbally and in writing. The employee is frequently required to move about the office, use a computer, and reach with hands and arms. It may be necessary to lift 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision.
- Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
- Must have visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications visual abilities also include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to squat or kneel occasionally.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position is full-time, which operates Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.
Travel
Travel is not required for this role.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical or vocational school background in electrical or electronics helpful.
- 5 years of experience in a precision electro-mechanical assembly environment.
- Training to IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 standards for electronic and cable/wire harness assemblies helpful.
